Sending pics on cam fone

Sending pics on cam fone

why cant a cingular fone send a pic to lets say a verizon fone?

i know u can do verizon to verizon and cingular to cingular but y not cingular to verizon?

they dont have intercarrier pic messaging..i dont know the technical parts of it..but i am pretty sure ken does

The reason why you cannot send the actual file is because you won't be able to play/view the video/pic on your other phone. They use different proprietary software players/picture viewers. They are all different because there's more to picture taking than just viewing the picture, you have to download it, save it to your phone, attach it to a caller id, upload it to your online wallet, edit the picture online, send it to an email address, attach a voice memo, compression....etc. So it's a package. When we get ONE player on every phone and/or ONE media format, it will happen. At a minimum, a set of compatible standard.

Today Sprint is powered by Lightsurf and I suspect both Cingular and Verizon have their own proprietary interface. Sprint was first out of the gate and the others followed with their own. Right now I think you can send the link only across carriers and with your internet-ready phone, follow that url to see a pic. But MOST phones have little memory to actually receive pictures and video, even the camera phones.

Of course this will change in the future. There are Real players and Windows media players that will play most anything. Also the memory is increasing and with memory cards, your phone's software will be able to handle the incoming pics.
