i recently picked up the t809 and i can copy over songs and audio clips to the phone and listen to them and all, but it doesn't let me set them as a ring tone, no matter what format i try to copy them over as.. does anyone know how to get ur songs or any audio clips u copy to the phone to play as ring tones..?

this doesn't work... by changing the extension to .3gp, it reads it as a video file or u can transfer it over in the other files folder.. it still doesn't let you set it as a ringtone..

its crazy.. the mp3's that came with the phone can be set as ringtones, but any that i transfer to it can only be played but are grayed out so they cannot be set as ringtones.

anyone had any luck with this phone..?

check out howardforums.com I had the same problem with my 809. There was a simple solution there, but I don't remember

This is correct. Just cut your mp3 and rename it from *.mp3 to *.3gp

Also make sure you put it in the right folder (audio)! Once there, you can select it as your ringtone. I've had several different mp3 ringtones on my T-809 since the first week they came out (I'm an early adopter).

1. Put the mp3 song on your phone
2. Go to incoming call settings
3. Select ringtone to see all available
4. Find song you want as ringtone (do nothing yet)
5. Highlight the selected song
6. Click middle select button to mark song (nothing will happen)
7. Press back button
8. Press save.
9. Go back and check your incoming call and it should be whichever song you highlighted.
