Not liking it already.....

I hate the palm treo, but it has SOME good features, like the screen lock, with the "press the center button to unlock" feature... You press ANY button and the locked LCD activates and asks you to press the Center button on the 5 way to unlock the screen/phone. Makes sense so you don't call people from your pocket, but you don't have to do some elaborate sequence or press an awkward button to activate the phone.

This has an ON/OFF switch in the wrong place (TOP of the phone??) to try to do the same thing. Ugh!

My fingers are on the keypad to call a number, nothing happens, I remember I have to activate (turn on) the phone, and then I have to press a tiny button on the TOP of the phone. Makes no sense.

I have it...awesome phone. I have it hooked to an Exchange server, and the email push is very quick, very effective. I have two complaints:

- its kinda bulky to hold to your ear for very long conversations
- the battery life...the extended lasts me ~1.5 days (though I have email push enabled for every 5 min)

Any thoughts about my above comment? I mean, when you pull it out of your pocket to make a call, do you really have to push that little button on the top every time?

Well, the on/off is only if you hold down the button, and then only if you click 'on' on teh screen to turn off the phone. If you press the button on or off regularly, all it does it turn off the screen...it doesnt turn off the phone, and you still get email updates with the screen off

I do that instead of locking the screen, which is a PITA if you are driving and fumbling for the phone

Right, I "meant" lock the screen. It just seems like kinda a pain in the ass iff you pull the thing out of your pocket to make a call, to have to press that button (in a weird location) to unlock the screen. Leaving the screen unlocked in your pocket is out, because it's a touchscreen.... and it would kill the battery... Oh well...

you're going to have that problem with any phone, especially the candy bar phones that require you to press one or two buttons to unlock...i prefer a single button though, in case I need to make a call quick

my 8925 has the same thing. you must hit the power key to activate the screen. but it isnt bad since its on the side of the phone. i actually prefer that to the treo where you have to press the center button. and other issues with the phone? and will your company be switching to the i760 or just a wm^6 device of some sort?

My company will switch to whatever I decide they switch to, truthfully. We need a device that integrates with Exchange better than the Palm OS. Verizon does not have the BB Curve, so BB is out of the question, as the World is too big, and the Pearl has no Qwerty. I tried the MotoBJ, and the interface was "clunky". Next, XV8600...

Quinto, as for other issues with the Samsung, I agree, the power button on the side would be preferable to the top, especially since the top button is so hard to find by feel. Also, the END call button is right where your thumb rests during a call. Not so good for a business phone. the slide out keyboard needs MUCH more resistance to slide out, or the START and END call buttons need to be moved from the SIDE of the slide to the front. In general, not a well thought out design, unfortunately. Looks cool though.

Well, back on track, I think we may try out the Blackberry8830 World-phone next. Others have reported it as fairly bulletproof, although no camera

Every time I fly or travel. I always take a picture of the parking spot I am in, the license plate of the rental car, the room number of the hotel room, etc. I always poo-pood the cameras, but then found them to be pretty useful. I think I will have to give up the camera to get a phone that works for us though.

Well, they stopped printing the room number onthe room key in hotels (good thing), but when I am all liquored up and wandering the halls of a hotel trying every door, it can be helpful to have a picture of the room number.

Likewise, after a day of flying, it's nice not to have to find the paper you wrote (maybe) the parking garage spot number down on, assuming you haven't lost it...
