Router needs phone line?

Router needs phone line?

My router requires a phone line. Can i unplug it and still get internet?


I'm not very tech savvy so if you can please be simple in explanation.

If you have DSL then no don't unplug it. Otherwise I've seen cable modems that have a phone line and I believe it's used as a backup if the cable network goes down it switches to dialup if you have it setup that way. If it's a cable modem then yeah you should be able to unplug it

Since you stated "router", is your router and modem combined? If so it would need the phone line for dsl, if not, only the modem would need the phone line, not the router.

Have you tried calling paypal. Disconnect the phone line first.

Yeah it's combined. We are getting a new one so I won't worry about it for now.
