Im looking for a cheap (under $300) new or used box that can run XP or above or OSX so I can remote into it while in London. There are a lot of US things online that I cant do from there and learned my lesson last time. I want something small and quiet, so thinking about a nettop. It doesnt need to be powerful, just something sort of reliable since it will be on 24/7. Anyone have a nettop or have an older PC they want to ditch?

 

could you rent a server cheap and run a vpn it for the time?
or plug a DDWRT router into a friends network and run a vpn?

 

Why, Im keeping my house and internet. Got a cheap nettop.

 

Will you be able to start it up remotely in the event of a power outtage?

 

Its on a UPS, plus I have neighbors
