Reinstalling RAID HDDs after reformating
Win7 is installed on one HDD and I have two other HDDs running in mirror RAID through Windows (not through my mobo). The time has come to reformat my computer. What is the process for reconnecting and setting up my RAID drives after I install Windows? There is obviously data on the drives so I can't just wipe the drives clean and then set up the RAID. I tried to Google this but I don't know exactly what terms to search to get an answer. Thanks for any help!

hmm you're talking about windows mirrored volume? That could be a start to search. I tried researching but after a quick glance none seem to handle a reinstallation of the OS.
I would venture to assume, since the volume is considered a "dynamic" disk it would logically have an identifier of some type for windows to recognize.
Do you have a spare hard drive that you can throw on a Windows installation to test with?

Thanks for the info ez12a. I unfortunately don't have time to try a test install, so I've already reformatted my hard drive. At the worst, I'll temporarily copy the data from one of the mirrored drives to another drive, format the two RAID drives and set-up the RAID again, and then transfer the files back. But I was hoping to not have to do that. I'll try a couple of things and reply back.

It should recognize them as foreign disks and allow you to import them
