Recommend a good Monitor? 27"+
Right now I've got my eye on the Dell U3011 30 incher, but at $1300 it seems a bit pricey. Looking for best bang for my buck. Any suggestions for good 27" or larger monitors? Is it worth dropping thirteen hundred for the Dell?

Dude! I got the Dell u2711, that bitch is bangin! Get that shit! It's like $900 now...
It's only 360 pixels shorter in height because it's 16:9 not 16:10 like the 30. If you watch movies or netflix with a 16:9 screen you don't get any or much smaller black bars at the bottom since a lot of content is shot in 16:9 aspect ratio or wider. No movies shot in 16:10 so you'll always have some sort of black bar when watching video.

Another option is the Apple Cinema Display
$919
I bought one for my wife, she loves it. The colors and contrast are excellent.
The only issue is that it is a glossy display, not matte.
Edit: One more thing, it connects using mini displayport, so you'll need a cable/adapter depending on your graphics card.

Muy expensive. One of my dual just died, it's like it new it was about to be replaced. lol.
So I think I'd like one nice size monitor 27", and I'll leave the remaining 23" on the adjustable arm for stats and toolbars.
Here comes a stupid question... readddy? Nowadays we have ridiculous LED TVs...with insane ratios and true 1920x1080 display. If properly tuned, can it suffice for a 'monitor'?
This way I can finally get rid of the tube tv (yep, my office is still old school) and replace it with two for one?
Or will I regret this decision very much? (powered by GTX 680)

I prefer 16:10 monitor and can live with black bars for watching movies. I appreciate the extra work space of a 16:10 over a 16:9.
