Printer Companies are full of S***
I really don't believe this. I'm sorry, but I have to rant.
I bought a Canon printer a while back with 3 color cartridges and 1 black catridge under the assumption that I will save ink if I'm printing just black and white.
So time goes by and I save up that color ink for that special "moment" and low and behold, I have no color at all! I call up Canon and they said that the richness of the text depends on all the colors, not just black, and that I would have to eat the cost of the ink myself.
Thats 3 color inks at 9 bucks each and 1 black at 11 bucks. 40 bucks down the shitter. This really, really pisses me off.
Anyone have this same problem or know where to get cheap ink? Apparently, generic ink is really cheap, but is not recommended by Canon (obviously
)

)search for non-OEM on ebay; they even sell refill kits. I always by non-OEM and they work fine. And I pay a fraction of the cost.
Oh, I have a laser printer that cost me $70 after rebate, which I use for blank at white prints. A toner lasts 1000+ pages (even more)
next time make sure you choose the grayscale option in the print options. then you arent using your color catridges.
but a yeah...i bet your black and white has a lots of gradations in it, and yes it does use color.

I needed a multifunction printer, for faxing and copying/scanning, and with built in network, the laser options were way over 400 bucks. I bought a Brother MFC-3820CN for $170 and just plug it to my switch, and voilá. Anyone can scan/fax, etc.
If I need to copy a high amount of pages, I wil just put them into the feeder, scan them into a PDF document, and them print via laser.

)What model Canon printer do you have?
One of my friends was telling me that HP is working on a printer that takes 7 cartridges: cyan, dark cyan, magenta, dark magenta, yelllow, black, and get this: clear. The clear is an oil-based ink that seals the page so that colors don't smudge and it's essentially waterproof.
Can you imagine being out of clear ink and not being able to print? :wtf:
Now Epson has a TV with a built in printer. Double :wtf:
Good lord, next thing you know you won't be able to take a dump without buying a cartridge of some sort.
