Possible to expand home wireless network ~1/2 mile?

I am wondering if it's possible to take an existing Wireless-G home network and be able to make it available to another location about .5 miles away, but the two locations are not line of sight? One site is lower than the other, and there are trees and homes between. I did some looking, and read up on high-gain wireless antennas, but most product descriptions reference line of sight.

Has anybody had any experience doing what I'm talking about? Success? What products were used?

Thanks!Q

You could if you installed a signal booster every few hundred yards, but hardly seems worth it
