Portable Hard Drive

I'm in the market for a USB Hard Drive.

You know, the ones that are about the size of a

day planner.. i'm looking for one ~75-150 GB.

Price ~$100-200

I've searched Ebay, but I dont know who makes a good one.

I built my own for about $220.

You can read more about it here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...1&postcount=26

As of now you can get much larger drives (160GB) for the same price as I got my 100GB drive if you do some sleuthing on the net and wait for good sales at Fry's.

When I saw a 160GB Seagate Notebook drive for $190 I just lowered my head because that extra 60GB of space would have helped.

I spent $180 on my 100GB drive.

It's been a year since I put it together and it's still running very well for me.

Well to your credit he did say Day Planner sized, Some of those are ginormous! And to match those a 3.5" drive and enclosure would work.

I got the Seagate Portable USB HD

I picked his because
1) Seagate makes great products, they just bought WD
2) This thing is just beautiful, it's not the lightest but look-wise it's > *

Is there a portable hard drive on the market that can download data directly from a Sony memory stick. I'm going to Europe for two weeks vacation, and I don't want to lug around my laptop just to download the photos from my camera every night.

My friend built his 300 with an SATA drive for under 100 bucks I think. It was part of a school project so he got a handful of the parts free and the HD reduced... If you want to be dishonest about your "school project"...

He wrote letters to the companies, they didn't have any proof, though it was for his engineering project...
