PC question: W7 > W10

I know enough about computers that upgrading to W10 should be a clean install. What problems should I expect doing an in place install of 10 on top of 7?

I was working with one of our technicians on the Windows Engineering team on some Windows 10 issues and we did some upgrades in place (pretty quick and easy) and some clean installs and then all of the work to reinstall applications. Given the very significant difference in performance between the upgraded machine versus the fresh install, I opted to do a fresh install on my personal laptop.

While I am not sold on the Windows 10 UI, I am pleased to report a nice bump in performance and memory utilization over Windows 7 on the same machine. This is the first time I've experienced a new version of Windows improving performance since I went from Windows 98 to Windows 2000.
