Paranoid/backup laptop . . .

Thought my PC died the other day, but I fixed the problem. What is and where to get the cheapest laptop that will run financial software?

Will your financial software run on Windows 7, or is it some proprietary program that uses Windows XP?

Costco has refurbed laptops w/ Windows 7 OS, i3 processors and warranties for $400, but no other software.

Every chain store seems to have a sale on new i3 + Windows 7 laptops for less than $500 this weekend.
I'm biased towards newer Intel-chipped machines, but note that there are also some Celeron , Pentium, Athlon and Turion chipped laptops that are near $400 new, as are desktop towers with the i3.
