Nokia N97 Unlocked, anyone have one yet?
My lady has been bugging me about getting a new cell phone. The reason why is she still have a Nokia 6680 and I have a N95 8GB. Needless to say she wants mine but want me to get a new cell phone so I can give her mine. So I've been looking around and thinking about getting an N97 unlocked. IPhones are out of the question.

The N97 is a bit sluggish for me. Truthfully, nothing is wrong with the iPhone. It has a faster CPU and runs apps smoothly. To get the most out of the N97, you gotta be a little tech savvy and be used to the Symbian OS. The touch on the N97 is not capacitive touch like the iPhone, which is the reason why I love the iPhone so much. You have to press down on the N97's screen to do anything, which I find annoying when browsing because pushing down while dragging a lot bothers the tip of the finger.
Overall though, the N97 is a beautiful gadget. It doesn't have the number of apps compared to the iPhone, but it has a better camera, much higher storage capacity (32GB), plays video and music well, and some people might enjoy the physical keyboard more.
Besides, the iPhone and the N97 run for about the same price right now. Personally I would choose the iPhone (3GS preferably) over the N97 because the N97 still has bugs and is too sluggish for Nokia's flagship phone.

I wish someplace around here had one on display so I could play with it. The reason why my lady and I don't like the IPhone because we travel a bit and since changing out the sim card would be better for us. She's far more tech savvy than I am so it's ok. Does it bog down any when you have a lot of apps open at the same time?

I highly suggest you try one out on display before making the purchase because I thought it would have the same iPhone feel but turns out to be more sluggish. Of course opening a lot of apps will slow down the phone. The difference between the N97 and the iPhone, in this case, is that the N97 is able to multitask across different apps, so that's a plus.

With the IPhone, can you hook it up to a TV and watch movies with it? What I like most about the Nokia set up is the internet calls, or video calls.

The iPhone can also be set up for internet calls using wifi. But the lack of camera in front of the iPhone renders the video calls out of question.
I believe you haven't research too much into the iPhone? I'm not endorsing the iPhone or anything. I was just like you before, thinking what could be so great about the iPhone any ways? Until I got my hands on it and research into all it's features, it really is a great gadget.

I did a little but not much. A few of my co workers have one and they look in pretty bad shape with all the scratches on the screen. I guess I will go and play with one sometime this weekend. Though I'm still leaning towards the N97

He told me that, when he's watching youtube, the resolutions/graphics sucks so much. he'll rather go home and watch it on the internet. That true? (just thought maybe it's because of different internet service or something? )
and i m still stucked with t-mobile for another year and two months. Heard that the new iphone can't be unlocked.
