"No dumb questions, only dumb people" Excel question

I need to go back to school ...

Really easy Excel problem ... I have two columns:

ROR "X"
0.37%
0.56%
1.16%
0.50%
Etc.
Etc.

Way down, let's say cell C248, I have a fixed number, 0.20%. The formula I'm inputting to calculate "X" is the (ROR - C248). So for the first one, 0.37%, the "X" would be 0.17%, the second, -1.10%, the "X" would be 0.36% and on and on.

How can I insert the formula so I can get "X" down the column for each ROR without inputting the formula every single time? I have like 200 rows of ROR. When I copy and paste, the formula changes slightly (shifts rows down), so I'm subtracting C249, C250, etc.

Thanks ... but when I copy and paste, the formula shifts rows:

(B43-C248)
(B44-C249)
(B45-C250)

I want to keep the second part "fixed" at C248 ... so (B43-C248), (B44-C248), (B45-C248) ... and since I have like 200 rows to enter the formula, I want to mass copy-and-paste it.

Put a $ in front of the 'C' and in front of the 248 ie $C$248 . That will lock the cell referance.
