Nextel Guru's: Free Nextel Internet?

Is there a way to get free internet on Nextel without subscribing to the internet option? ie: change a setting on the phone and enter a wap proxy into the phone like VZW?

Mikey:

yes there is actually

jcl cls01:

which phone do you have ?

do you have an IP icon?

if you dont have an icon, call nextel customer service and ask for them to turn on your IP, its free
it takes 20 mins or less for it to be on your phone once you hang up with nextel power off your phone and wait 10 mins and keep it on til the IP icon is present on your phone, once you get all that done

DOWNLOAD THIS FILE >>> http://www.ideninsider.com/projects/iiNA20.zip <<<

INSTALL & OPEN Net alert. on the top left corner theres a drop down menu, highlight net alert then in the middle of the program theres a field titled PRESETS, hightlight GO TO

NEXT

go to your phone, im assuming u have a 730 or 830, hit the left key and the net should start up.

you will see nextel services, click ok, then u see sub ID, click ok to view.

copy your sub ID into net alert, click send and you should get it instantly.

you can put BBC, CNN, Tekni Wap--which has tons of wap utilities, AIM , map quest and tons of other stuff. if you have problem PM me.

What do you have to do to send text messages? My buddy has the Nextel Online, and just out of nowhere he can now send text messages (we've got our phones at the same time, bout 1 1/2 yrs ago). Do you just need the IP now - Mine dissapeared about 6mos after I got my phone.

TL,

Thanks for the info, it really works. Is there a way to bookmark the websites onto the phone? By using the iiNA20 tool, it looks like I will need to send an alert each time to view a site. Also, will I incur any charges (airtime, message use)?

Its been awhile since I had nextel, but there used to be a SMS messenging webpage that would send a bookmark to your phone. Go to ideninsider.com and look for the webpage. You type in your SUB ID and the page you want to bookmark, and it will send a message to your phone and you just save the bookmark.

theres no way to save anything on ur phone except for the initial wap program, ie. Go to, AIM. You can lock them so you dont deleted them.

The only way you will be charged is if you send yourself a 2way pro alert. You can send mesgs for free, but everyone you open is 15 cents. you can send $14 to aaron, the owner of Ideninsider, and he will activate your two way messanges with out any further charges. good luck. lemme know if u have more questions.
