Can I buy a Nextel 7520 off Ebay and switch my SIM card out of my i730 without subscribing to the Blackberry service? I really don't care for the email/IM functions. I only need the PDA functionality, Direct Connect, and Bluetooth from the phone.

 

Yes, you can switch sim cards but chances are a lot of the functions won't work... and since you don't have bb service either...it might not work altogether.

 

from what ive read and previous knowleage it will work, you might have to re enter all your contacts.

 

You WILL have to re-enter contacts as the Blackberry doesnt store any contact info on SIM card.

 

the i730 and the BB sims are totally different. you'll need to get a new sim and the BB's store contact info directly on the device and not on the sim.

 

Without any service on a Blackberry you can still sync your contacts, tasks, calendar and Memos via the Desktop Manager for Blackberry (Using Outlook). You will need to do a cradle sync every time you need to update it.
