The Zune software came with pretty fruity colors. Luckily it was just a skin. I like the new interface vs the old. It seems to be a more refined and stable product now.

One issue with the UI on the Zune player itself is that the title screen's fonts are huge. So huge they can't fit the entire menu on the screen. Pretty annoying. Maybe a fix will come out soon letting you choose sizes. There is still no track repeat option either.
I'm downloading the software now (you don't have to have a zune to use it) and I'll let ya'll know what I think. I know it's missing smart playlists and a detailed rating system but those are thing's I've never used with iTunes. I only have one custom playlist and it's not a smart one and I've only rated maybe 3 of the 3500 songs I have and they're all rated at 5 stars so these are things I won't miss but I understand that other will and these features should be added back.

While I love the Ipod touch....These new MP3 players (like the Zune) scare me....People can't pay enough damn attention to things around them as it is...Now we have pocket sized TV's everywhere we go....I'm shocked I don't see people get hit by cars every day...

Whiskers you don't have to worry about the Zune in the UK, it's not available there and they haven't announced plans to do so either. In the other $99 Zune thread someone posted that Radioshack will be selling $100 30gb zunes on black friday and they won't be refurbs either. So you may want to wait and try to grab one then.

I have nothing bad to say. Its a solid upgrade. The new software seems to work better, seems more fluid, then the older one. The firmware is good, i like all of the changes. Havent messed with the wireless sync much, just got it set up. And just in case anyones wondering, you cant do a wireless sync while another device is charging...

And this is cool as hell!

overall im very pleased, its like a got a new toy and didnt have to spend a cent. Props to microsoft for rewarding customers

no, that screen shot is misleading. The program has no visual border and i had it maximized. Instead of the visualizations, it does that ...

Looks like the battery indicator has a mind of its own. I was syncing a large file and decided to cancel it after i saw that it was about to die. After i canceled, it shot back up to almost full maybe the indicator displays what the battery life will be after the sync?

It seems like you got most of your album art. It seems like the only album art I'm missing is maybe the ones that I got automatically from the iTunes store cause I think with iTunes it doesn't add the album art to the music files it adds it to it's proprietary .itc file.

actually after playing with the new firmware, im gonna say 80% of all the album arts are wrong. Most of the songs have a picture but they're totally wrong. Even the songs that ive ripped off purchased albums are wrong. This is weird because the computer software has them all right ill try clearing it and resyncing my collection...

upon further investigation, it seems that its just mixing up two artists. Maybe their metadata is messed up?

M$ hating aside...the Zune team definatley made huge strides with this release...the artwork is definatley awesome, and I had some friends beta testing the firmware...even on the old Zunes, they said the firm ware made it seem like a brand new device

Ok so MS released an update for the Zune software today that fixes alot of bug but doesn't add any features (smart playlists, more detailed rating system, etc) so I installed it and was messing around with it since I haven't used the software in a while (I still use iTunes mainly) and I decided to try out this social thing that MS is banking on and I gotta to say it's pretty neat and it just might catch on. I like that it gives info about bands like the beatles that aren't available download in the Zune marketplace. It'll give info about all the songs the most played songs by Zune users, the users that listen to this band the most, and lot of other things. I'm gonna post my personal zune gadget on here so you can kinda see what it's like. I believe you can listen to samples of the songs that are my favorites or that I have recently listened to without going to another site.

Did anyone get one of these for the holidays? I didn't which sux now that my iPod broke cause it couldn't handle falling from 1ft of the ground!! Oh well I'll prolly get the iPod replaced at the apple store, they're usually cool like that and then I'll sell the replacement and get a Zune 80.

<div><div id="zunecard_big" class="zunecard"></div><div><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://zcards.zune.net/xweb/lx/swf/zunecard.swf" style="" id="flashUserCard" name="flashUserCard" bgcolor="#FFF" wmode="opaque" salign="tl" flashvars="baseURL=http%3a%2f%2fzcards.zune.net%2f zcard%2fusercardservice.ashx%3fsrc%3dexternal%26zu netag%3dDan%2bthe%2bDanger" height="260" width="548"></div><div></div></div>

for some reason the gadget isn't working. It's works in myspace and everywhere else?

HHmm... The gadget's working on my myspace right now and everywhere else, it must be AZ!

Well here's my Zune page if you want to see the gadget, it works fine in there.

Have the prices gone down any on the Zune 80 since like November? I want to buy one soon but I'm willing to wait if there will be another price drop soon.

No it's still $250. only would drop the price 2 months after it's been out and try to screw early adopters. I don't think they'll drop the price until the 3rd gen comes out or if Apple drop they're prices which I don't think will happen.
