Need some laptop help for college

Okay for graduation my dad said go ahead and get any laptop you want...I want to spend a max of about $2500.....Here are the requirements

12-15 inch screen
Bluetooth
Integrated Wireless B/G Card
Infared
S video out
3 hours of battery life or more
Pentium M 1.5 or higher
512 MB Ram

I agree on the IBM comment. But you can get more for the money with the D600 I have one and its pretty good. If you can get IBM I would do that.

I just got an IBM T41. It's fuckin awesome except for this annoying buzz sound the defective fan makes every 5 sec.

I just bought a Dell Insprion 8600

P4 centrino 1.8Ghz
WUXGA 15.4inch
512meg memory
60gb HD
128Meg ATI video card
4year at home service

for $2200

go to http://www.xpbargains.com/dell_coupons/

Which saved me $350.

My company has access to the Employee Discount purchase program and with the coupon site the regular site had a better price

Renegade...supposedly most of the units have the problem. It's more of a bug than a defective issue. A lot of people have complained about it on forums and to IBM. People have had their units serviced, but they just replace it w/ the same fan. It's the design of the fan that is that problem. It's only noticable if your in a quiet room....studying! If you have some music playing, it cures the problem similar to the rattles in my CL-S!

a lot of people, such as me, prefer the windows interface and responsiveness over the intutitive, simple apple interface because im so used to it, its no longer a problem, though i dont mind the apple one. Also, id make a bet that school specific software, such as engineering software, isn't always made for both platforms. Also gaming, but i dont concider that a serious argument.

ibm makes sturdy laptops, if you go dell, go for lattitude series as opposed to inspiron

im going D600 myself next year

if you get an apple id stay powerbook, probably stay away from 17'' (if thats even in budget) because as a student it probably wont be good if you want to take it to the library, because its so damn big.

I think both do, but the IBM has a 7200rpm hard drive so it will be faster.
