Need a new phone. Need recommendations!

Well, I've had a Motorola V400 for the past two years but it's failing me now. I can barely hear anything. Warranty is out of the question, and I don't care.

I don't know anything about cell phones. I just want a new phone that is of comparable or better quality. Preferably a flip phone. My price limit is $250. Any suggestions?

Razr's sell for really cheap now. You should be able to find one for under $250

V635 or Razr? Ugh, if V635 has that kind of problem, I will be mad that I just spent $265 on it (including shipping)..

Oh, okay. Your reply came right after I posted that I ordered a V635 and you also quoted something about Razr so I got confused.

I think that the sound problem is actually a Motorola issue. I had a V600 for a year and I warranty exchanged it atleast 3 times becasue the speaker volume would shit out. It was funally explained to me thet Moto uses adhesive to make the connection from the speaker wire to the actual speaker in the ear piece and after being jarred, dropped, and kept in humid environments the adhesive deteriorates and separates. I don't know if this is true or not but even my Razr has earpiece volume issues.

I just want to let you guys I got the V635 in the mail. I didn't even bother to check out its features because as soon as I powered it on, I realized the screen quality sucks. Well, maybe I don't know any better, but the V400's bright and vivid color screen may have spoiled me. I am returning the V635 tomorrow.

I guess another thing on my criteria: GOOD BRIGHT SCREEN

V400 is only 16-bit (65,536 colors). V635 is 18-bit (262,144). Whats the problem?

Switch to another carrier (if out of contract) and get one for free (after instant/mail-in-rebate).

I really have no idea. My V400 is very vibrant and clear. The screen on the V635 seems faded and reminds me of the screens on Samsung phones a couple years ago (maybe they're still crappy).
