Need karaoke software Help
Sup peeps
we are having a party for my fathers 60th bday this month and I am in charge of getting a karaoke setup going.
I already have a pro sound system from my job by fender that has two mics, many inputs, EQ's etc... Very Loud an expensive.
now, my plan is to partner this up with my laptop as the display and run some karaoke software with tons of music on it.
Can anyone lead me in the right direction for good software with tons of music on it?
I'm thinking thats all i need right?

the software you need is
1. winamp
2. cdg plugin for winamp
equipment:
1. laptop
2. s-video wire for ur tv
3. aux to rgb wires to hook up to ur speaker
4. microphone and speakers (obvious)
and to find songs, u can go on torrent site and type in CD+G or CDG Mp3, winamp will play these files and show up karaoke.
For new releases on song, u can get them on MIRC...
I have about 2,000 songs on my laptop and uses it mainly for karaoke at party..

Sorry for the bump. This seems to be the only relevant karaoke thread. I'm a newb at this. I wanted to get a set up and was curious how I can integrate it with my current system. I have a TV, Receiver with speakers and sub, PS3, and will soon have 2 USB mics (buying for Rock Band). I have a PC but no laptop. I have no router but will get one soon.
Starting with the software, Winamp has a media sharing program so I imagine I can stream those to the PS3 and be able to view the words on my TV and hear the song in my speakers. Is this possible? That would eliminate my need for a laptop once I get a router and have my network up and running. That should eliminate most of my hardware needs. Will the mic work using the winamp plugin via USB? How does this sound?

I'm not sure about the PS3 option. All i know is that you don't see your winamp directly. It only shows media files, like mp3 songs, movies..etc.
I think it won't work because cdg plugin wont show its interface and the PS3 would just read the mp3 file as a song not video.
Beside, how you going to search for your music if you have a massive library? I rather have a laptop with dual display for easy searching.
As for the mic, just plug it into your stereo receiver and use your house speaker for performance. There are wires that convert computer aux into rgb so that you can get music from your laptop into your house speaker.

After researching I might scratch that option. A lot of different forums say to avoid using your home theatre for karaoke as your risk blowing up the speakers from loud, drunken singing. I saw a pillar set with aux input and tower speakers for like $150 at Costco. I'm going to see if I can download mp3+G to my mp3 player and connect it to the Aux In. Then I can connect the out to the TV. Can you tell me more about the Winamp plug-in? I can take any random song I have (popular of course) and it will not only download the lyrics but no how to apply it on the song for karaoke?
