My Review of the Nokia 8800/8801 cell phone

ok... since people keep asking me about this phone, here's my review.... i don't recommend this phone to anyone really... some of you may ask, "then why do you carry it?" answer is because there's always going to be those who want it. It's terribly overpriced IMO for a mobile phone with so little features. First of all, it doesn't even have a megapixel camera and picture quality is not that good. The menus and user interface on the phone are extremely plain and boring. the display is small. battery life is extremely short. it doesn't have a memory card slot. reception is ok but not really any better than your average phone. there is nothing really special about this phone at all that makes it stand out from the rest. There are phones available at a small fraction of the cost that have way better functions than the 8800. Seems the only thing a person would be paying for when they get this phone is the "wow" factor.... Retail price of this phone is approx. $650, or $300 w/ activation. The Samsung T809, which retails for $300, or free w/ activation, beats this phone in every single aspect i can think of.

Nice quick review bimmer.

The 8800/8801 was designed to with the motto of form over function. It was their pot shot at the RAZR, but obviously not in the same price range.

Next to the N-Gage, this has to be one of Nokia's biggest flops.

I just ordered a 6131, so I am hoping this one puts Nokia back as #1 in my mind

It'll still have a following though. I know a lot of people who still have their old 8890. (Including myself, I switch back to it occasionally) In a couple of years, it'll become that cool hard to find phone that people want.
