It's not out of toner.


Here is the story. IIRC, with my old Win XP PC, I made the change somewhere to set it to "save" toner. I assume it was through Windows.


So it printed light. Good for drafts. I lived with it. It's ok for general use.


Now with my new PC Win 8.1, I like to change it back to "normal" where it prints darker, because it's too light when the text is of a lighter color, other than black.


Where do I go to make this change? I can't find and figure it out.

 

The save toner setting is specific to the setting on the driver and does not carry over, so its not any Windows setting. It may be on the printer itself, check the settings there. Otherwise you are out of toner.

 

Does it have a drum? Have you changed it?

 

All laser printers have drums. Some are built into the toner cartridge (HP, Canon) and some are separate from the toner (Brother)
