Multiregion DVD support for laptop?

I have a friend who travels a lot to south america (region 4) but also comes over here (region 1). Any nice reliable tool that will allow DVDs of multiple regions for the laptop?

Try these:

It will probably be highly dependent on the manufacturer, model #, and firmware available for your DVD rom. But as a general rule, imposed by the MPAA, the newer players will be difficult to hack the region code, while older players do not have that restriction.

I use InterVideo WinDVD to watch DVDs --- software decoding to read various regions. (support the vendor or download a crack to see if he likes it ... then buy it later if he does)

there's basically three things to look out for:

1) hardware's firmware
2) Operating System
3) dvd player software

All 3 have to "pass" for you to be able to do region 0.
