Right now I have ipod shuffle which doesn't have EQ. Is there a mp3 player that charges thru USB and it has EQ?

The iPod Nano does have an EQ (along with other iPods) - BUT does not have a "custom" user-adjustable setting - it has 22 presets. This should be fine but it's one of my biggest peeves about the iPod - I like being able to totally customize my EQ. The best setting I could find on the iPod for the type of music I generally listen to is "Latin" - go figure. This is after lots of listening and experimenting. Most other MP3 players have custom EQ option. Unfortunately, they have their share of other (possible) problems and issues.

The MP3 player as a technology is still in its infancy - I think we will start to see really good ones emerge around... say... 2010.

isn't it dangerous to be listening to your mp3 player while riding a motorcycle?

just be careful! also technically you're not supposed to do that

btw jatt has an ipod shuffle but apparently its not good enough for his motorcycle because it doesn't have EQ... he must have quite a soundsystem on there.

Keep in mind, jatt wants to mount it on the handlebar of his SV650. This is not a bicycle we are talking about here - I would give the Nano about a week before it gets totally pulverized from the crazy vibration.

How so? The Nano is solid state, just like the Shuffle. Unless he's bouncing it around scratching it up, it should be fine.

what's the finish on the Nano, piano black? would you want to mount that on the handlebars of an SV650? I just think he needs something a bit more rugged with a more machined finish that won't be so susceptible to scuffing, marring, and scratching. Also, he needs a custom EQ.

Yeah, it's a shiny finish on the Black. I have a silicon sleeve for mine. I guess I should have mentioned that. You can set custom EQ settings on the Nano.
