mobile help in MD

I'm currently with sprintpcs. I pay 40 a month (after all the bs they add to the bill, it's more like 46). I get 500 anytime minutes, ~3650 night/weekend minutes, first incoming minute free, long distance included, nationwide plan. I have the samsung a500. I think I'm paying way too much right now. I also don't like the fact that sprint is the only one that's being left out of text messaging services. Whenever somebody sends me a text, I have to go online to read it. Anyways, a friend over at ATT, says he can give me about 550-600 anytime, unlimited night/weekend, nationwide access, long distance, all that for the same price. The thing is, I don't go over my allotted minutes each month, so I'm maybe looking to spend a little less. What kind of deals are other people getting, and any advice? I'm about to call up Sprint and haggle with them for a better plan. Also, you think I can get a new phone out of them too?
