Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 5000

Hi guys,

I think I am getting old and dumb.

I got one of these keyboard from costco. It was pretty good but where the heck was the "Sleep" button?

There was a "logoff" button but that was not the same as the "Sleep" button.

I searched and searched for hours. No luck locating that "Sleep" button I used to use with my old keyboard everyday to shutdown my computer.

Help please!!!

Thanks!

Talking

I am a lazy ass. I would rather die than clicking all the buttons!!!! It is nothing personal but it is the principle!!!

So, I searched and searched again.

I got it! There are two ways to do this.

First:
There is a file called SHUTDOWN.EXE
You assign this to the "logoff" button:

shutdown -s -t 0

It is going to shut down the computer.

Or... you call the power management function from the screen saver with "rundll32.exe" This will not shut down the computer but it will make the computer to go to standby.

you should be able to control which buttons do what with MS intellitype software.. SO install that if you haven't already and there should be an option to when you hit said logoff button it goes to sleep instead of logging off.

Here's the download link for the newest version of intellitpye for XP

and for Vista 32-bit

Well... there is no "shut down" command from the command list in the software. And there is not any "sleep" key on this keyboard.

I will be using the "shutdown.exe" for now until I can find something better.
