Mine shipped on Friday and is suppose to get here tomorrow. But before it shipped, I called AT&T to complain and they gave me another $25 credit on my bill. So I'm getting the 920 for free basically!

Apparently AT&T is going to be selling the 920 for $50 on friday-sunday so I can call back then and they'll price match.

Well, I bricked mine for the first time doing a Bluetooth download from my computer. I had to do the volume down and power button for about 10 seconds. Even thing, so far, is o.k.

Did the e-chat and got my $50 credit.

So for a $99 phone and charging pad, I get $25 instant credit at check out, waived activation fee of $36, 300 MB per month comped data, and a $50 Black Friday match. So basically for $25, I got a phone and pad plus $9.99 in service fees.

Hell, if they keep going, they'll have to pay me to use the phone. I don't know how Nokia and/or ATT is making anything on this deal.

Good! Now I have somebody to ask questions.

There are basically only two screens... the home screen in which you can add as many tiles as you wish and scroll up or down and the right screen showing the apps that are or can be pinned to the home screen. Can you add more screens to the left or right?

If I can find one and get them to waive the activation fee again, I'm going to get a red one in-store tomorrow.

I'm coming from a WP 7.5 Samsung Focus. After using the 920 for a few days, I realized Nokia have made some custom OS changes that I don't appreciate at all. The biggest thing I've noticed is that Nokia completely removed the link to the native Bing Maps app. They replaced it with their own Nokia Maps, which isn't a native app. I'm having numeruous issues with this.

1. When the app starts, there is a splash screen that causes a delay, which wasn't there with the native Bing Maps.
2. When I've used it, it crashes on me at least 5 times a day.
3. The app is completely broken right now with the latest update (more info here http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lu...-up-issue.html).
4. Local scout uses Bing Maps (inconsistent experience)
5. Clicking on an address in your contact will launch Bing Maps (inconsistent experience)

So I'm wondering if anyone else is annoyed with this. I'm really disappointed Nokia made these changes without giving their customers a way to go back to the native app. If I want custom changes in the OS, I would've gotten an Android. I'm thinking about returning my 920 and get a HTC 8X instead to have 'pure' WP 8 experience.

Bing maps is powered by Nokia maps. They just rebranded on the lumias. The UI might look a little different but it should have the same features

Got a CSR on the line and got the same deal as my mom's white one... $25 after credits for a red 920, activation fee waived, data waived... it's worth $10 a month to have an extra phone.

With #72 I can forwarded my call from my primary line if I decide to use the 920 for a bit.

Hell I might pay the ETF of $325 and sell it on Ebay for a profit.

Yes, it's powered by Nokia maps but it's like Nokia decided to re-skin it with their own non-native app and it doesn't work as well. Right now it doesn't work at all. And since Nokia decided to only remove the shortcut, the native app is still used for certain functions. It's a huge step backwards.

Walmart is offering 920 for $70 plus $100 gift card. So they're paying you $30 for the phone.

^ Good deal. Amazon has the black one only on sale for 1 cent. With the Walmart deal, you'll be into the phone for about $20 by the time you get the charging pad for $50 from AT&T. And I don't know if AT&T will waive the activation fee if you buy through Walmart.

Currently, if you order via AT&T online at $99, you get the pad, $75 in credits and a waived act. fee. If you ask real nice, they'll give you the min. data plan for free.

The 920 seems to be doing well, I've heard reports from carriers and retailers worldwide claiming high demand for it. Telstra tweeted about great demand for it, supposedly it's sold out in Germany and Yahoo China is reporting that Nokia got 2.5 million preorders for the new Lumia line, that's almost as much as they sold all last quarter. Here's from Amazon.....before they were selling it for a penny

Well Amazon have gone there, they’ve went into their cupboard, pulled out the “Tremendous” word, dusted it off and placed it on the Lumia 920. It’s not uncommon for Amazon to run out of stock, but claiming the demand is “tremendous” is a first for me (usually just “out of Stock” or “high Demand).

It also looks as if they have no idea when they’ll be getting additional stock (if at all) seeing how you can’t even pre-order/reserve a 920 for yourself; instead you only get an option to be notified by email once the stock has been replenished.

Edit:

It seems Amazon only have the White and black in stock @ $69.99, with no indication of how many are left, yet all signs point that they won’t be there much longer, so if you want to grab one soon act now-
http://mynokiablog.com/2012/11/22/am...left-in-stock/

We stil haven't heard anything directly from Nokia though, you'd think they be shouting from the rooftops, maybe they're being cautious

They're stock price is going up with stories of great demand for the 920, we may have to wait until the next earning call to hear numbers

O.K. this crap is getting ridiculous... the 920 must cause a massive brain tumor with 4 hours of use.

Thanks for the link for the headphones. My mom's white doesn't fall within the qualifying purchasing timeframe, but my red does.

Black, cyan Nokia Lumia 920 sold out at AT&T
The Lumia 920 has sold out at AT&T in the US. Both the black and exclusive cyan variants are reported as so on the online store, which further shows high levels of demand (or minimal amount of stock). We're still looking forward to reporting on just how many Lumia Windows Phones Nokia has managed to ship and sell to consumers in its next document release.

AT&T has had the Lumia 920 on offer for the weekend to celebrate Black Friday, as well as offering early adopters $50 to match the new pricing. Overall, it's good to see the product selling out except for those who are actively attempting to pick one up. White, red and yellow colours are still reportedly available for purchase from AT&T, however.

Ooo, I just found a cool feature that the 920 has. High Amplitude Audio Capture (HAAC)

“To cope with high sound pressure levels, Nokia has developed together with microphone suppliers a new microphone concept (High Amplitude Audio Capture) that can capture high sound pressure levels with perceptually no distortion to the audio. It is capable of recording up to 140 dB and higher Sound Pressure Levels, while that commonly used digital microphones can only reach 120 dBSPL without heavy distortion. As high amplitude audio levels are tolerated, there is no need to limit the frequency response. Hence full audio bandwidth to match to human hearing capabilities can be provided when capturing with HAAC microphones” Nokia
This means if you went to a concert and recorded video you wouldn't get shitty audio like I always did with my iPhone and of course you get image stabilization. AFAIK only Nokia phones have this feature, the 808 Pureview was the first phone to have this.

I'm glad manufacturer's are spending time on features like this. Not sure I follow your iphone comment though, I have tons of videos from inside clubs and the audio is very accurate. Did you have your phone in a case that maybe covered up the noise cancelling mic?

No. The music was just too loud causing the audio to clip. It's happened to me a few times.

Apollo Plus: Microsoft's next Windows Phone update to include Wi-Fi, audio, and other fixes
Microsoft is currently preparing an update for Windows Phone 8, codenamed Apollo Plus. Sources have confirmed to The Verge that Apollo Plus will bring new features to Windows Phone 8 that weren't fully in scope for the initial release. This won't be the next major version of Windows Phone, but more of a point update to push fixes and features.

We're told that Microsoft is preparing to include VPN support in Windows Phone, a missing option since the reset of Microsoft's mobile OS efforts, that will allow corporate users to connect to work systems — this feature may make it into the first Apollo Plus update. A Wi-Fi connection fix is also planned to let connections always remain on, alongside some audio improvements. Apollo Plus will also test Microsoft's ability to deliver Windows Phone 8 updates over-the-air, a change from the previous OS that required users to plug devices into PCs to get similar updates.

MICROSOFT "RAN OUT OF TIME" ON A NUMBER OF FEATURES

Microsoft has admitted it "ran out of time" on a Notification Center Windows Phone 8 feature addition, and the company will likely push additional features that failed to make the final cut as part of its upcoming update. We're told that Microsoft will be detailing Apollo Plus at Mobile World Congress in February.

Someone zip tied a 920 to the front of a Toyota SUV and took it to the Sand Dunes to test the Optical Image Stabilization, pretty impressive.

Ballmer: Windows Phone devices are selling four times more than in 2011
The first Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia and HTC started to hit store shelves in the US earlier this month. So far, there's been no direct word from those smartphone makers, or from Microsoft, about how these new devices are doing. Today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave a little more information on sales of Windows Phone products.

Addressing the crowd at the company's annual shareholder meeting in Redmond, Washington, Ballmer said:

The Windows Phones from HTC are Nokia -- are getting rave reviews and have already been sold out in places around the world. We are working with our partners who are ramping supply, launching new markets and we're already selling four times more phones than at the same time last year.
That's certainly sounds encouraging, but the fact that Ballmer didn't actually come up with a specific sales number might still show that Microsoft didn't want to go head-to-head with the unit sales of iPhone and Android based smartphones. Ballmer also stated during his address that the Windows Phone Store now has over 120,000 apps and that the platform has most of the 50 most popular mobile phone apps.

Does anyone know the backlog/waiting period on the charging pads? My red one (direct connection to the general secretary of the USSR) with red pad was ordered on 11/23. Still processing. The phone (Nokia 920) came yesterday.

My first one, white phone/black pad (direct line to the Whitehouse) came together and was ordered only a couple of weeks earlier.

If my bank and American Express would get Windows apps, I'd be 100%. I'm liking the OS more and more than ICS.
