Looking for iPhone (3GS) compatible earbuds!

I've been trying to find some earbuds that have the same remote and mic controls as my 3GS. After some research I guess this type was available even before the 3GS. Nonetheless, I wanna be able to retain full functionality (volume adjustment, call answer/disconnect, pause/skip/reverse track, etc) with it. Looking to spend less than $80.

I go to the gym so (inactive) noise-canceling design and in-ear retention are a necessity.

For comparison, a set of earbuds I own and love are my in-ear Sennheiser CX-300s. Good all around sound, sans the distortion and lack of mid-range and low-end punch that the Apple packaged earbuds suffer from, and they came in at a reasonable price. I remember paying ~$20 for them a year or two ago, thanks to my employee discount. But all they're good for is music now, no calls.

yeah they absolutely suck! I might try doing this with my stock iPod headphones and my good Sony headphones that have exposed wires near the earbud. Just transfer the sony earbuds to the Apple wiring, or I may just be able to put them back on the Sony wires after shortening them some.

I was in the same boat. I wanted to retain all of those control. I started looking at a bunch of different sets. V-Moda, Bose, Shure. Etc Etc.

All the reviews that I read about the V-Modas were good except they buds would continuously go out, the bose were too expensive for what you got. I bought the Shures and was COMPLETELY disappointed. I returned them. The sound was awesome. The biggest problem is that the cord is 2 parts. There is a Y cord that goes from your ears to a plug that would sit in the middle of your chest. The part that that plug plugs into is about 1.5" long and about 3/4" wide. That is the part that has the microphone and controls. Heavier than hell.

I heard mixed reviews of the Apple in ear buds (not the stock ones). They have the functionality you are looking for.

This is the part on the Shures that I was talking about.
Like I said though. The sound was excellent.

I finally gave up on looking for a set that was in my price range that had the functionality of the OEM ones.

I've seen that how-to guide before, but I can't figure out how the hell to take apart my CX300s though....

In the process I found these:

http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-IMAGE-...0554030&sr=8-1

Looks like it has everything I want.... but is a little higher priced. I guess since they're new, even Amazon doesn't offer it for lower than MSRP.... yet.

im gonna go with a stereo bluetooth set,

gonna go with kens motorola S9 no wires to deal with while at the gym, that is a big issue for me since i keep my phone in my pocket, the headphones are just barely long enough to reach my ears, if i turned my head an earbud would pop out of my ear.

For anyone who cares, I ended up getting those Klipsch Image S4i's for my birthday. They sound incredible. The sound isolation is great, and depending on the size of the earpieces you use, you can just wear them as earbuds or in-ears. It's taking some getting used to for me.... I have small ears and the double-flange tips sound great but they hurt like a mofo if I listen to them for a really long time. The 3-button remote control works great, and people have not had any trouble whatsoever understanding me through the phone's mic.
