Looking to get new laptop.. please help

im looking to spend about $1000 for a new laptop... is there any good ones out there you would recommend? i would prefer pentium since celeron is not that good...

is this good for $800 after rebates

some cheap dells out there and some cheap apple laptops, but the support ont he apples is $$ and they come with crap 90 day warentees, so you need to spend it

This isn't the worst choice you could make. Get the extended warranty from CompUSA. I was once told I could go outside and light what I bought on fire and they would reaplce it, probably not, but it was funny. Never bought the warranty.

My dell and sony both have had their mobo's fried.

I have a Celery laptop, it gets the job done...what kind of stuff are you going to be doing on it? Gaming? Photoshop? If not, you might be better off with a Celeron...they really arent THAT bad

I got my Compaq Presario 2175 for about $1100 and have had 0 problems so far - it's got an Athlon mobile chip in it, comparable to Pentium 4 I'm told...
