so i heard today that the vx 8000 is going to be launched on Nov 15th. This is going to be the first EVDO phone verizon is going to offer. EVDO is basically a high speed data transfer network as apposed to the 1xrr we are running now. Evdo is only data and not voice which the 1xrr is capable of both. The data transfer rate is going to be as fast is broadband speeds which will be sick espically if you can get a data kit for it which i know verizon wont be selling. Anyway, its going to be a sick phone.

 

I'm excited about this one. I have the VX6000. Are we allowed to trade phones in before the 2 years thing is up or whatever?

last phone moto had that was great was the startac/timeport series..i liked the v60's but they had alot of problems with charging ports,antennas ect....

I can't comment on that because I am a little bit biased. But I know just like Sprint, Verizon takes a manufacturer's phone and turns it into their own phone. I don't think it's fair to judge how a phone comes out of the process as all on the manufacturer. In fact, it's more on the carrier. So you can say for example, Motorola phones for Verizon are pretty lousy or Nokia phones from Alltel are pretty good. But it doesn't reflect how they create phones for other carriers/technologies. I've seen some pretty sweet LG phones.

And I also know that Motorola has changed factories (countries) where they make phones many times over the past 5 years. StarTACs and Timeports were manufactured outside of Chicago.
