LCD- Backlight issues
Is this common? I just got my 20.1" dell 2005 and have some backlight issues on one corner.... It's really doesnt bother me it's not really noticable unless I am watching a really dark DVD or have a really dark desktop background...
Should I return the monitor?
Is this a common issue?
Any potential issues with backlight?
thanks

I've seen this before.
It's because the housing is pressing too hard on the LCD screen in that area. Call Dell and see what they say. I bet they'd take it back.
Any dead pixels? It might be worth keeping it if all the pixels are good.

if you did a google search you would see that blacklight issues are a huge problem on the 2005fpw, there are 3 problems, blacklight bleeding issues, dead pixles, and "screen door effect"
most are fine, (mine for example). call them up, bitch, and they'll replace yours

^ Yep, I was well aware of the issues prior to purchasing this. I posted this to see if other LCD owners had these issues.... Anyways, the consensus on the 2005FP seems to suggest if their are no dead pixels (I have none), and MINOR backlight issues, it's not worth exchanging it. I can't even notice the backlight.. so it's all good... I think I'll keep this, instead of taking a chance on another one which may have more issues.

It is very common with that monitor.
Don't bother to send it back, one of my friends went through 5 returns with dell before giving up. He got dead pixels/backlight or usually both.

I have the same LCD. I have little to no backlight bleeding problems.
Stop taking pics with a image on the screen, you can't see the problem that way. Leave the monitor on for 2-3 hours. Then go into your screen saver settings in XP and set it to blank, run a "preview" on it. Take a picture of the "blank" screen saver with all the lights off and no flash. It'll be a lot easier to see the bleeding on a black screen.
To save you a LOT of reading. Dell addressed the backlight issues by releasing a newer verison of the LCD. The "A01" series. You can easily tell which one you have by looking at the back of the monitor.
Most backlight issues go away on their own after a few days of use. Lets see some pics taken as I described above. I can tell ya if you need to exchange it.

A lot of LCD's have notorious "shadow" spots coming from poor backlighting. If you are not happy with your purchase just exchange it for a new one.
