Large smartphones/pocket tablets

Hey All,
For the most part, I love my mytouch 4g. However, having big fingers, the 3.8" screen has always been a bit of a struggle for me. Even with the retard keyboard I installed (which allows me to make a very large keyboard).

I took notice of the samsung galaxy note (5.3" screen !!!!)
Size: 146.9x83x9.7mm

I made a mockup out of cardboard, and it's quite pocketable.
By pocketable, I mean, if it's in the front pocket of my jeans, I can sit down without it jabbing into me. Previews say 'fits in a dress shirt pocket' and that's sorta true - It goes in quite easily but it's too tall by an inch or so. One thing I'm not sure about is how clunky it would be with a case on it, though - I rather like my trident cyclops case.

Tablets have been a turnoff for me because they are too limited to bother carrying around for me. A mini tablet that fits in my pocket, though - now we're talking. And I still like the idea of a stylus.

It's kinda clunky as a phone, of course, but for short calls, no big deal.
If I talked on the phone for a long time, I'd use a headset anyway.

Just my two cents.

- Frank

Somewhat relevant, this is why I am so interested in the new PSP Vita. It fits my needs perfectly.... I've grown tired of gaming on a 3.5" touchscreen, and any tablet with a 7" screen or larger is impractical for me. I just want something to stimulate the popcorn brain. Been toying with the idea with just getting a dumbphone with a cheap talk & text plan, they tend to be more reliable and durable anyways. I find a smartphone more of an entertainment gadget than a productivity device, though I do use it for both. Admittedly, only sparingly for the latter.

5" OLED screen with PS3-like graphics (I have my sources), capacitive touchscreen, quad-core processor, stereo speakers, front and rear camera, microphone, available 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, slim form factor which will likely be ideal for carrying in your pocket.... and oh yeah, it will cost $300 ($250 for the non-3G model).

I'm still mad about Sony not releasing it this year, but I understand. As long as it doesn't get pushed back. Just trying to put another option out there too. After all I know some people who bought PS3s to use them primarily as BR players.

I believe the Galaxy Note won't be coming to the US. You'd have to import it from Europe. It caught my attention too because of the stylus. I think it'd be the perfect note-taking device since it was made to work with a stylus and isn't that big. If you're looking for a bigger phone, then the upcoming Galaxy S II phones for the US carriers will fit your needs as (T-Mobile's version will have a 4.52" display). Personally, I think anything above 4.3" for a phone is too big but if its skinny enough, it might be okay. Will have to hold one in person to say for sure.
