Laptop Tune Up
It's amazing the better performance you can get with a can of air and removing the back plate of your laptop. I had chicken feathers (really goose comforter) and pig snout in mine.
After a cleaning, the CPU temp dropped 20 degrees C... converted to American temperatures I think that's alot.
Also since I run completely on the brick, I took the battery out to reduce the heat as well.

careful about running off of wall power alone. Some laptops actually use the battery as a buffer in case the adapter can't supply enough power. In turn, they may also underclock the CPU and other things to prevent this.
Macs come to mind (at least the ones with removable batteries).
This is all in addition to the danger of accidentally pulling the cable.

Just for clarification, unless you peg your CPU at 100% all the time, your adapter will handle the demands of the computer.
But it's the same reason why plugging in say, a Macbook Air charger into a 15" Macbook Pro will either charge very slowly or not at all. The adapter cant cope and most likely under load will be drawing from the battery. (But there are in some cases the appropriate charger does not supply adequate power)
It's also documented in Apple's docs that underclocking/undervolting occurs when the battery is removed to prevent an overload condition. This equals lower system performance. Other manufacturers do the same.
And battery technology has progressed a lot in the last decade. You dont need to preserve the battery by removing it. Leave it in.
