Question Laptop problem???

I have a little problem, I think, with my Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop. Whenever I am watching a DVD in my DVD/CD-RW drive, the movie (old and new) would stutter or freeze for like a split second. This will happen on and off throughout the whole movie. And sometimes the door won't open to the drive. Does this happen to you guys or is it just my laptop??? I need to know ASAP so I can contact the dell help desk if need be.

TIA!

I had the same problem on my laptop. I noticed the problem went away when I added more ram.

Also when you go to start the movie, before playing it, make sure that you have all other applications closed, Depending on the operating system you can check different ways. For Windows 98/Me just do the control/alt/delete and see what is running and close anything you do not need. Look in the taskbar and close anything there including antivirus software (just be sure to turn it back on when your done, or just reboot). See if that helps, if not then you probably have to upgrade the RAM.

Memory isn't that expensive these days. I upgraded my desktop from 128MB to 384 for 80 bucks or so. I'm pretty sure laptop memory won't cost that much more.
