Well I still haven't received the laptop. Anyone that said lenovo sucks at shipping was bang on. I ordered on the 18th of dec. last week received notice that it wouldn't ship until jan 14th due to demand from the sale they had. Now the story is that due to the unavailability of a part it won't ship until sometime in feb. sweet service lenovo 3 months is pretty fucking pathetic IMO.

just pulled up the email they sent, now it's feb 15 as the estimated ship date. and they even go so far to say in the mass email that no compensation is available. pretty sad state of affairs, it actually smells like a bait and switch to me.

Wow, that sucks. They don't deserve your business. They should've anticipated higher demand with the sale.

I think mine was custom built (through Dan) and put together overseas via Lenovo and it still arrived in 3 days.

Where did you order from?

That sucks Dougler.

I got my T410 today and it's killer... Core i7, 4GB RAM, 4 USB, 1394, SD card reader, eSATA, DisplayPort and VGA. Fully off to Win7 desktop in 35 seconds!

I'll put 8GB of RAM in it once the price drops.

edit: just saw your update... cool!

lenovo.ca it was part of their pre boxing day sale. hopefully it ships in 3 days, but i'm not holding my breath, it will likely take a week coming from asia.

So the shipping failboat continues. I've been invoiced, status says shipped on there website, tracking is still not available even though their site says tracking will be available the morning after shipment. This is pretty brutal.

so i'm in need of a new laptop. i just wanna get a cheap, budget, everday laptop for surfing, emails, pics, video, etc. (iPad would be cool, but i'd like a large HD and usb, etc.)

kinda wanting to spend around $400-600.

lots of these budget laptops have processors ranging from intel core 2 duo, dual core, pentium t something, amd dual something, etc. does the process matter for what i'm wanting from the laptop? don't think so, but i just wanna make sure.

i've only had experiences with toshibas and dells. i see some good deals on gateways. recommended? or acer/asus?

thanks in advance.

You can find some pretty decent Toshiba Core 2 Duos in that price range-- that's what I would do instead of getting a Gateway or HP (higher repair stats; IIRC, Gateway was the worst).
My daughter's Toshiba Core 2 Duo from Costco was $550 and came with MS Office (home edition), 3GB RAM, etc.

The Acer laptops seem to have a pretty decent rep.

www.pcdecrapifier.com

so when you get the PC you run said program above and check all the shit you want to uninstall and it launches the uninstall app for all the programs one after the other. Then once that's done you go to www.ninite.com and install all software you might want, FF, itunes, chrome, safari, malwarebytes, flash, silverlight, java, ccleaner and most importanly Micrsoft security essentials. Then run CCleaner and run the registry cleaner and call it a day. You'll have a pimped out PC in about 20 minutes!

So again it's

1. pcdecrapifier
2. ninite.com
3. CCleaner
4. ????
5. profit
2. ninite.com

This is pretty badass. I wish there was one for mac too. Sure as shit adding it to my bookmarks regardless.

bumppppp!!!!! need another one. Has to be 13.3-14.5 screen. Old man's lady now wants one, back to school should drive some good deals. This one needs to be under $500, I'll be in the states for a week after labor day for 5 days so American retailers are in play on this one.

Should've bought it like a week or two ago! Back-to-school tax-free shopping for computers under $750.

Yeah, check into their back-to-school specials, but keep in mind most of the US starts school the 2nd or 3rd week of August, so they might not have as many school deals anymore.
