iTunes question

When you delete a song from iTunes is there a way that it can also be removed from your hard drive at the same time?

I am doing some spring cleaning in my music library and this would be so helpful.

Are you deleting it from your ipod or your music library?
If you delete it from your ipod, it's still in your library *and* your hard drive.
If you delete it from your music library, it should as you if you also want to delete it from the hard drive (the second prompt)

On my PC, it wouldn't delete from the hard drive. But on my new macbook, it gives you the option.

Maybe upgrade to the latest itunes?

It might depend on how you originally organize your music. Do you consolidate your library?

I don't think so. . .

It's pretty scattered. I will try upgrading to the latest iTunes and messing with the preferences too.

If you're using windows, i found that deleting through the windows media player takes it off the hard drive. The program sucks, but it gets the job done for deleting at least.
