iPhone : PC to MacBook issue

So when I first got my iPhone this spring, I was still using an HP laptop - thing is on its last leg, so I upgraded to a MacBook Air.

Problem: iPhone is "synced" w/ the PC, not the MB... how do I switch over, with out losing all my songs, apps, etc?? Kinda stressing about losing stuff I paid for ... Going to update to the new iOS on the phone w/ the PC, then work on the transfer, if it's possible

(I'm in the process now of moving all my songs from a 500gb external hard drive used w/ the PC to a 1TB portable drive for use exclusively w/ the MacBook)

This might help:

With iOS 5, you just tap the cloud icon on any of your previously bought items on the phone. I would also authorize your new Mac in iTunes.

It's authorized, but so is the PC - if I deactive the PC, will that automatically make the Mac the primary sync??
