Frankly, I don't think processor speed really matters past 1 GHz any more. They should concentrate on fasters BUS speeds and newer technology.

 

Yup, totally agree with you. They should concentrate on improving the archetecture of the chip itself and add more instructions and such. Why do you think a apple running at a lower clock speed can out perform a intel/amd chip?

Technically the AMD XP 2000+ chip is a 1666 MHz CPU. But that AAMD chip spanks the Intel P4 chip at 2000 MHz around.

 

I like the RISC and SPARC processors better than anything.

 

Good luck bringing those out in the open everyday consumer market. Haha! I can just imagine going to Best Buy and finding a RISC machine.

Almost all of Apple's systems are RISC based (but I realize you were referring to *real* computers )
