HTML Question

I am looking at a text file that someone sent me of what was originally an HTML email.

The text between the <body> and </body> tag appears as such (I am recreating a portion of it):

You have reached us after business=
hours.<br /> <br />We would love to speak with=
you and discuss your issue, but unfortunately=
we are not here now.=

and so on and so forth.

My question is what are the "=" at the end of each line? I was shown a screen capture of what the email looked like in a browser and the = symbols do not appear, nor do they seem to indicate any specific formatting.

Any ideas?

Well, in my defense I did google it, but in this case you had to google the right thing to get the right response. I spent 30 minutes looking at google results and never found that.

Thanks Thoiboi, just what I was looking for.

Thoiboi,

I will do some testing but wanted to ask in case you knew easily:

would accidentally inserting an "=" into the middle of a line of text (not followed by two hex characters) cause the remainder of that line to NOT be displayed in thunderbird showing a IMAP message(but subsequent lines would be)?

I think I know the answer and will test shortly, just wondering if you knew how "strong" the soft line break is in the formatting heirarchy...
