Help me choose my next phone

I have been using an HTC One (M7) and it has done everything I need out of a phone. But it bricked yesterday morning so I am in need of a replacement. I am currently using my girlfriend's old Samsung Galaxy S3 and it is an adequate substitute I can use indefinitely so I am not in an immediate rush for a replacement.

I tend to keep phones for a long time so I am looking for that same longevity. The HTC One was my first non-user replaceable battery and frankly, I'm never doing that again. I could tell that probably by the middle of this year, it wouldn't have the battery life I need to get through a day.

So any replacement phone needs to have a user replaceable battery.

I am a heavy phone user, but I only use it to do basic tasks. My use is:
  • 30% phone calls
  • 40% texting, emailing
  • 20% navigation
  • 9% web/facebook/youtube
  • >1% taking photos

I have narrowed my list down to the following (prices are for unlocked refurbs):
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - $230
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 - $350
  • LG G4 - $270
  • Samsung Galaxy S5 - $220

Price is not really an issue, but if I can save $100 and get a perfectly adequate device, who doesn't like to save money. I'd like to hear from actual users if possible. I have watched/read just about every imaginable review on these devices. Other devices could be considered but I am not switching OS's. I am on Verizon.

I welcome any input. Thanks.

Oh yes, design is almost irrelevant. It will live its life in a UAG case.

I bought a Note 3 the day it came out. Still have it and it works wonderfully. However I feel it's time for me to move on. It's a little bit too big for what I need. I've been looking at the Nexus 5x. The price is low at 279 right now and it's pure android with battery saving techniques.

Thanks. After handling a Note 4 in store today, I think it might be too big for what I am looking for.

Stay away from Note 4. Laggy as hell for certain apps and camera. One already bricked on me after around a year. I hear Note 3 is super solid. I have a friend with one and she loves it but doubt she's a power user like me. I'd probably go G4.

Hate my Galaxy S5, runs like shit after the OS upgrades, from that list I'd say the G4.

I just ordered a Moto X Pure 2015, can't wait to try it out
