Okay, I feel like a m0r0n.

I'm not a technophobe, but no expert either. I just switched from AT&T to Cingular and got a Motorola MPX220 phone. It has internet access.

Anyway, the CSR's--two of them--were telling me I had to call my ISP for assistance. WTF? Anyway, I simply don't get how this works.

I followed the instructions in the manual and it appears as though you are registering the user info on the phone to run in sync with your own email account elsewhere (like yahoo or hotmail). I already have a yahoo account so tried to enter the info and it keeps telling me:
"could not obtain email settings. check the spelling of yahoo.com and select previous to correct if necessary. or select next to enter settings manually."

Well, the yahoo thing seems correct to me but the next feature asks me about domain (wtf?), server type (wtf?), acount name (?)...I entered nothing for the domain, mms for server type, mms for account name and the internet for network. I then get: "error: that name is already assigned to another account. enter a unique name and try again." Does this mean make up a new yahoo name? I'm f*****g confused...

 

just call customer service and ask them if they can send you the settings for mms. once you get the text message, save it and your phone will be configured. also make sure your account has mms enabled. this file will only configure your phone for mms capability. you still have to know your email info

this is one of the few things i liked about nextel. their phones are pre-configured for things like these.

Actually, some kid helped me at the Georgia game Saturday. Had me up and running sitting in the stands in about 10 minutes. I was able to keep track of the scores and everything during the game...
