Generic Notebook AC Adapter

Have any of you purchased a generic ac adapter for your notebook? My sister's adapter burned out and I was wondering if it would be best to get the oem one or will the generic one do. Please post your experiences, if you had any w/ generic ac adapters.

I bought a universal AC adaptor and it worked just fine on one laptop, but the other it would not charge the battery.

thats too bad..

one more thing, do a search for your model laptop on ebay and see if it comes up with anything if you have HP for example most HP powersupplies will work with different models or have several different models listed.. this is how i found the power supply i bought and had no problem with it at all

As long as the voltage and polarity match and the amperage is at least as much as the old one, you'll be fine.
