Hey spidey, did you buy an eVGA 6800GT? Oh and did you order all your system parts from newegg all at once?

Score another one for AMD! Once I started really getting into PCs I always went with AMD. Proud owner of an AMD 64 3400+ and an Nvidia GeForce FX5950 ultra right here.

Aaaaahhhh AnandTech is a very smart and innovative idea. I met the kid and his partner back when i was an undergrad at my school bout a year ago. I used to write a articles for Anandtech on video conferencing devices and cases.

U guys be surprised how advertising and marketing has made him a millionaire. A very smart guy indeed.

Cheers...

the results show AMD on top but its not really an apples to apples test. the athlon 64 is a 64 bit processor vs the P4 which is still a 32 bit. you would have to compare Intel's 64 bit desktop processor when that comes out to the AMD. The processor war is always the same AMD releases something first that is the "fastest" then Intel releases its top chip, it goes back and forth. I like AMD products because they provide great performance at a good price. but lately their products are costing almost as much as Intel's.

callball88, these are apples to apples, because AMDs 64 bit extension dont come into play for this. Doom 3 isn't a 64bit application, therefore both processors are using 32bit, and as you can see for yourself, Intel gets raped.

I went with the FX5950 Ultra instead of the 9800 because IMO Nvidia makes better GPUs and at the time the competition was between those two. I also find that AMD and Nvidia are the strongest combination. As for the XT/6800, both weren't available. I bought the top of the line at the time.

No, last gen Nvidia had problems w/ there FX cards. They sucked at shader intensive games, ie farcry and i heard that the drivers finally managed to make the card decent (more fps) but degraded image quality, so thats why i asked why not a 9800 pro =D. ATi went a long way and they had a winner with the 9700-9800s. yah so enough of my rambling lol.

anyways... how you guys like doom 3 so far
