DOD Approved Hard Drive Eraser

Can anybody suggest any one? My friend's parents are having a heart attack about donating their computer and want to be sure their CC numbers and bank account info is off the HD for good. ughh.

this is freeware only for files or freespace

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/sdelete.shtml

Delete all but the OS data then run this command
sdelete -p 10 -z

10 passes of the free space
