Dell recalls 35,000 notebook batteries

I knew their batteries were crap.

See link for full story http://news.com.com/Dell+recalls+35%...l?tag=nefd.top

Dell on Friday announced a recall of about 22,000 notebook computer batteries sold in the United States and an additional 13,000 abroad.

The 35,000 recalled batteries were sold with several models of Latitude and Inspiron machines and Precision mobile workstations between Oct. 5, 2004, and Oct. 13, 2005.

Darnit. My model isn't on there. I was going to try to get a discount on a better battery.

So far I have 3 on my desk that Dell wouldn't take back because they were out of warranty. Well they are getting stuck with them now, assholes.

Hrmmm

My battery is affected and still lasts 2.5-3 hours on a full charge. Wonder if it's worth the hassle.

It's not the charge time that's the problem.

The defective batteries cause overheating and could cause other components to overheat.

it's a free fix so why not

Something tells me Dell won't exactly expedite the turn around time from when they receive my battery to when they ship the new one.

Dell's CS gets worse and worse by the minute.

I would have them send you a new one (which will prolly be a refurb) and than you send the old one back in a prepaid package they send

Its so bad, that Dell credited me back $2400 after I returned a bad 32" TV and 2 weeks later sent me another one I was not charged for.
