Dash or Pearl (T-Mobile)
Could anybody give me some good or bad info on either of these two phones. I am thinking about getting a new phone but don't want to spend too much.

i own the HTC s620, which is an unlocked Dash. I love it. integrated wi-fi, bluetooth, qwerty, micro sd slot, and the list goes on and on. no gripes so far. ive had it for about 5 months now and no problems. the battery lasts for about 5 days with minimal talking. heres a review:
http://reviews.cnet.com/smart-phones...tag=prod.txt.1
as for the pearl, i know nothing about it.

Depends on what you want to use it for. I have a pearl which is good for emails and little web browsing (no wi-fi and smaller screen). The pseudo-qwerty keypad takes some getting used to but it's not as bad as some make it out to be...a tradeoff for the slimmer shape.
If my next phone (probably around end of 1st quarter next year) isn't an iphone, it'll probably be a BB 8820 (not out yet in the U.S., but very soon...is like pearl but with full qwerty keypad and wi-fi...8800 currently out does not have wi-fi).

My bro in law has the dash and loves it. I have the Q so they're similar...recently he let me have his phone for the weekend so I can pimp it out...now check out what he can do with it...
Yahoo Go mobile 2.0 for live GPS search, weather check etc,
NES emulator with over 50 games (Contra, Mario etc)
Sega Emulator with over 300 genesis games
Word/Excel/Access etc editor
Opera/JB5 (Mozilla) and I.E for web browsing
Smart Reset
Core Media Player (much better vs Windows Media Player)
DVD to Mobile for watching Crystal Clear DVDs compressed onto memory cards (2gb holds like 8 full length movies)
And about 5 more programs including Sprite Backup (A Must have) which backs up the entire state your phone is in, txts, missed, dialed, received etc programs so you can very easily recover even on another device
Of course I recommend you start out with a 2gb card which you can very easily pop in/out for your heart's desire and they're like 20.00 on newegg.com
plus you have www.qusers.com and www.everythingq.com plus a few other dash related sites for support.
Dash wins hands down based on functionality and features etc. If I weren't locked into Verizon's super high cost service for 2 years I'd be over there at Tmobile living it up with the Dash.

Lol! Sometimes I come here and post from the Q as well. Not today though. Qusers search for NES emulator...
It'll take you to some sites you can d/l pocketnester....google some torrents for ROMs and that'll get u in the right direction
Torrents can help you with the rest of the smartphone apps. Either that or buy some off everythingQ.com. Pricewise, most are very affordable and will make your phone a communication god and definately an iphone killer.
Iphone has NOTHING on my Q. I just picked up another 2GB card from Frys for under 30! That one's gonna be strictly for DVDs movies! Remember one card can store about 8 full length movies with DVD to mobile! They look great by the way.
BTW...have you heard of Slingbox? If not I suggest you google that too!
Enjoy

One thing I love about the Q is the fact you can swap the cards out on the fly, add large data files quickly with a card reader without having to power down the phone etc.
So it makes everything easy.

The t-mo 8320 just came out...I was tempted to pick one up but will wait.
The thing that caught my attention the most was the Wi-Fi unlimited calling add-on for 9.99 that switches from your minutes to voip and back on the fly if there is an available wi-fi network. I saw a complaint about dropped calls switching from voip to minutes, but after a full reset (battery pull) the dude said it was seamless.
I think the 8320 is a better comparison to the dash seeing that it is closer in size (but slightly smaller) and has a full qwerty.

I bought it last October along with the extended battery, swapped out the phone in May, and still haven't touched the extended battery since. Trust me, I'm a heavy user.
I just picked up the Dash for me and my girlfriend for our anniversary. Since Verizon's killing me on my bill (44.99/month just for data alone ouch plus 99.99/month for 2000 min plan)...it quickly adds up. As for the TMO dash phones, both of our phones last days on standby and come in at about 18 hours under heavy use.
By heavy I mean, playing Nintendo/Sega, using Wi-fi, watching movies and playing MP3s via TCPMP while surfing the web and then getting about 2.5 hours talk time in the mix. If we don't do any of those things, TT is significantly higher (around 4-5 hours)

I just found these last week. Make sure you run the surreal application unlocker first then you can reg edit and load up all the dash/G apps your heart desires. Hell you can even upgrade to WM6 (the new Windows Mobile 6) O.S. but I would caution you head over to XDA forums and read up on the upgrade process first before you jump in
