32GB RAM?
Do you do video editing or something? That's crazy, you could fit three full games into that. I have 6 gigs and have only used up to 5. I don't do any video or image editing though.

Yep, you are 100% correct, any new demanding game will maximum use 8GB of RAM...
I spend lots of time with Adobe products. Photoshop eats like crazy and rightfully so when I edit mega pixel files. I'm planning on utilizing 16GB for Adobe, and the rest for the system, dual monitors and cache drive. It's a lot faster to encode by caching your workspace on RAMdrive, especially when rendering, or how about running to operating systems concurrently? One in actual and one in VM...
Plus the difference between RAM in $$$ negligible. =]
But that's a good idea, imagine the performance of installing an entire game onto a RAMdrive just for the kicks? Obviously it's volatile, but fun.
P.S. I'm not a PC gamer. I have my 360 for that...

Well I am bored and thought I would join the discussion. My current build is a year old with a few newer parts but anyways here it is:
Corsair 600t case (black w/ mesh panel)
i7 930 (Bloomfield)
MSI Cyclone's 460GTX x2 Sli
Corsair 850TX
Gigabyte UD3R
Crucial BallistiX 6gb (3x2)
Cooler Master Hyper 212+
Enermax T.B. Silence 120mm x3 upgraded fans

I'm doing a little preliminary planning on my next upgrade. Seems like I do a major hardware upgrade around the time a new version of Windows is released.
I'm looking for
Ivy Bridge
UEFI
Thunderbolt Support
Display Port
USB 3
SATA 3
Looking at the Z77 boards. Hot Hardware says the Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe has a spot for an upcoming TB add-on card but I can't seem to find if any of their less expensive models have it as well.....

Once I upgrade I plan on taking my Core i7 860 PC and making it my server, taking my quad-core AMD server and making it my desktop at work and finally replacing the Dell P4 PC my friend gave me for free a couple years back, getting a little old and slow.
i have a question.
so i just bought a bundle desktop package from tigerdirect
the graphic card was way too big. so i ordered a larger computer case. it's finally here and everything went smoothly til i started plugging in all the power cables.
it turns out that this one power cable that connects from the power supply to main power slot is too short..........
what should i do? do i need to order other power supply that comes with longer cables??
im so

This should be what you're looking for: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812198024
Frys Electronics. Inventory checker shows Burbank has it.

So, do I need to purchase both of them?

Not too many real PC/electronic stores.
Checked Best Buy... nada.
Micro Center (OC) is too far.
Nada at Radio Shack.
Fry's may be only place locally.
Just one or the other.
i know nothing about building computers. it's my coworker who is doing everything for me. He's going to pick up the little extension tonight and finish this up for me tomorrow.
This computer is going to kill a lot of diablo.
lol tbh it'll probably work OK, just dont overclock or do anything super stressful like running folding@home 24/7.
Do not under estimate the importance of a quality power supply! when your diablo dies pick up a Seasonic, Corsair AX or TX series, etc, or any other rebrand of those PSUs (XFX, etc. come to mind)...that is assuming the diablotek doesnt send all your components to hell..
Weigh a diablotek and a quality PSU and you can already tell just by the weight.

I don't even know what overclocking means. I just bought a bundle deal on tigerdirect. That's all.
Hopefully, it'll work alright. I usually just get a new computer every couple years. So, as long as this computer lasts me couple years, I'm totally fine with it.
It's just a computer. No big deal.

It's up and running! I love it!
One question, so I hooked up my new samsung TV to the computer.
The mouse seems a little slow on the TV. It's totally fine when I hook it up to a monitor.
What can I do?
The TV is Samsung 55 inch 3D LED TV.

Might not be called "Game" mode, but PC mode or something. On my toshiba it's in the picture settings. It decreases the input lag, crucial for gaming. You'll have to read your manual.
Doubt it's the video card causing lag. My 8400 GS can output 1080p to my Toshiba HDTV with no problems and that card is like 5 years old. ATI 6xxx series is within the last 2 years.
What's the specific model of the TV? Some TVs, like the Sony HDTV with Google TV built in, have a problem with lag since the picture is rendered through an Atom powered pseudo-HTPC.

Found it! There's a game mode option on the TV menu. It reduced the input lag by a lot.
I guess if I turn off all the picture enhancement settings, it would make it faster even more.

Oh god. A problem on the first day. So I was watching a movie. The video stopped playing for like three seconds then came back. The error came up saying that the video card or driver stoppes working but recovered.
That happened twice in like 15 mins. Then the third time it happened, the computer actually shut down by itself.
I turned it back on and it shut down after running for 5-8 seconds. I tried twice and gave up.
What's the issue here?
I was playing with the computer for like 4 hrs before I started watching the movie.
Freaking

Sounds like a heat issue. The last few times you tried turning it on, the computer turned itself off to protect itself. Are all your fans running? Does your case have sufficient cooling? I would check the fan on the video card.
You also mentioned 4 hours of playing with the computer. Any gaming? GPU-heavy tasks? Most cards these days support video acceleration, so I tend to think that the video overheated the GPU.

running the latest driver? I believe ATI's on 12.3? As mentioned above, I would also look into heat being a factor.
It could even be the PSU causing instability.
Download a temperature monitor to see what your temps are. I personally use SpeedFan, others may prefer something else though.
