Code 19 Windows XP problem...
I was working on a computer and interal CDROM drive on his Toshiba laptop stopped showing up. When I went into the Device Manager (Windows XP) it says it there but has an error. It says the file in the registry is corrupt (CODE 19). Do you have any idea how to fix this? I uninstalled and reinstalled and still had the problem, and online I found that you delete a certain line in the Current_LocalMachine but that didnt work either. Any help or should I just reformat?

haha, here is what MS had to say about that
i found this, but it had more to do with some software removal so i dont think it will apply, but in case it does here you go. the symptoms look to be the same as yours

Code 19
Your registry may be bad. (Code 19)
To check your registry, click Check Registry. If the registry is bad, Windows will restart your system and go back to a previous registry that is good.
Solution button: Check Registry
This code means that the registry returned an unknown result.
