I went to Radio Shack this afternoon. I was surprise that they were selling cell phone with or without any plan for Cingular.

Not even that. They can sell you cell phones either

a) without any contract. you pay full price for the phone,
b) 1-yr contract. $50-200 for the phone, or
c) 2-yr contract. $0-$50 for the phone.

They have quite a bit of selection too. They have Samsung D609, Erisson W300i, Moto V3, Nokia, etc., etc.

This is great. I don't have deal with Cingular and Cingular alone. Every time I call Cingular, the guy always tell me they can ONLY offer a 2-yr contract. I know I can have more options now.

The guy in the place where I got my phone told me that if he wanted to sell Cingular, Cingular required him to sell ONLY Cingular. That's why so many places normally sell all the carries (Verizon, T-Mobile, Nextel, Sprint, etc) nowaday don't carry Cingular anymore.
