I already have my order in for that phone...since last month. It's got a lot of features in it that are provider dependent, I wouldn't want to get a pre-production model that doesn't exactly work.

I plan to use mine mostly for overseas. Nice phone.

It is true.

The 8910 will only operate if there are radio frequencies present on the 900 and the 1800 mHz frequencies. Those frequencies are GSM frequencies common in Europe, Asia, Africa, etc.

Unfortunately in the US, GSM frequencies are on present on the 850 and 1900 mHz bands.

Turn on the 8910 in America and it will display "no service".

I don't think it reluctance. It's money. Each cellular tower is a million dollars or more.

As soon as Cingular merges with someone, I think the GSM world in America might get a little bit better. And then when GSM finally migrates over to a more CDMA-like technology (similar to Sprint and Verizon), this thing will really start to take off. Give it about 3-5....years.

Hey, Kensteele. How did you order that phone and through who? I'm with AT&T and I want that phone. Everything I could need in a phone.

I won't be able to get one until it is officially released. Just like with the Motorola V600. Is ATT supposed the be the first US GSM carrier with this phone?

I have no idea if AT&T Wireless will be the first to offer the phone. I read on a forum on AT&T Wireless's web page that it should be offered and that it will replace the 7250i. AT&T never got the Nokia 7250i even though non working demos were in stores. They said there was a problem with the service I think. But a guy who works for AT&T said that he 'thinks' the 6230 will take the place of the 7250i. I hope AT&T gets it cuz the phone is nuts.

khmer co, just order yours from overseas unlocked. that's what i did. look on ebay, there should be a company in CA somewhere that you can get it from. i wish the 8910 covered 1900 or 850. that is the pimpest phone out. titanium and a button operated sliding cover :\
